It was only a matter of time before I had to do a Jane’s Addiction sketch, especially since I’ve already covered Porno for Pyros. They were probably one of the more influential bands of the late 80’s and early 90’s along with The Pixies. Jane’s Addiction created a memorable blend of funk, pop, psychedelia and metal that helped establish the now overused and seemingly generic “Alternative Music” label. I remember shopping at Hastings Records and buying bands like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Pixies and Jane’s Addiction in the small, single row of cassettes labeled “alternative.” I think I used to know what that meant.
