Just as Iron & Wine’s version of The Postal Service’s song “Such Great Heights” brings out more of a melancholy sound the same holds true of this Sun Kil Moon version of Modest Mouse’s “Ocean Breathes Salty.” In fact this comes from a whole album of Modest Mouse covers by Sun Kil Moon. It’s strange how different the songs feel with the stripped down acoustic sound, and makes you fully appreciate how great of a songwriter Isaac Brock is. Sun Kil Moon was formed by Mark Kozelek after The Red House Painters broke up.
