J. Mascis is the front man for Dinosaur, Jr., and in my opinion the originator of what became the grunge sound. Dinosaur, Jr. and in particular J. Mascis’s song writing is considered to be a major influence of bands like Built to Spill, Bright Eyes and even Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene. This song comes from his acoustic album “Martin & Me.”

Son Ambulance is fronted by Joe Knapp who collaborated with Bright Eyes on Fevers and Mirrors, and this track comes from the split EP with Bright Eyes titled “Oh Holy Fools.” Their sound has a slight hint of 70’s pop to it, and the sentiments in the song are often achingly sweet.
