The Smashing Pumpkins used to be my favorite band. Though I still love all of the albums when I listen to them, particularly “Gish”, I’ve discovered that I don’t listen to the albums that often. I think after I saw them on the final tour for the “Machina” album that I started to lose interest. The band reformed for a reunion tour a couple of years ago sans D’Arcy and James, and they even released a new album. Recently, longtime drummer Jimmy Chamberlain left the band and he’s been replaced. So, if you’re keeping track at home Billy is the only original pumpkin in the band. I doubt that I’ll buy the new music when it comes out, especially since I didn’t pick up the last album. I’m sure that it will be a great album since Billy Corgan is an enormously talented song-writer, but I think I have too much nostalgia for the band that I saw live many times. It’s odd, because The Smashing Pumpkins is the only band that I’ve reacted this way to.
